TV On The Radio – Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes

TV on the Radio was born when New York producer David Sitek (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars) met lyricist and film student Tunde Adebimpe. They were neighbours in Brooklyn and after a while began improvising shows, which evolved into songs. Along the way the group expanded to five and things took off; recently they have blown away the crowds at SXSW and this album, their debut, has been doing very well Stateside.

‘Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes’ is a work of experimental art rock that combines so many genres and approaches that it can only be summed up as eclectic. In taking bits of corrupted jazz, new wave, rock, funk, electronica, dance and good old fashioned eccentricity. The guitars tumble and crash over each other as the vocals double up and harmonise like a barber shop quartet. The interplay of all of these parts makes for a sound that is exciting and fresh.
