The Yards – Forget Your Regrets (CD Review)

The Yards sound harks back to a seminal age in rock, an age where the sun beat down and beads were the in thing. ‘Forget Your Regrets’ is an excellent example of this, as the beats slam in and the gently fuzzed up guitars lead you into a blur of hand claps, stretched sixties style acid casualty vocals, and multiple tiny crescendos. The effect rocks like its 1969!

The B-side is a live version of ‘Get Off My Back’ that was recorded at a charity concert held last year at York Minster to raise money for International Service. Being live there is more emotion and vibrancy in this recording than the album version, which makes it an excellent compliment to the title track.
