The Veils – The Runaway Found

‘The Runaway Found’ contains songs from the drunkenly miserable to the sublime and inspiring.

The previous singles – including the Smiths-esque ‘The Wild Son’, the barstool lament that is ‘Lavina’ and pure guitar pop of ‘Guiding Light’ – sit amongst other great tracks like the dramatically cathartic strains of ‘More Heat Than Light’ and the brightness of ‘The Leavers Dance’. Finn Andrews seems to be able to switch between them all with ease and confidence. While few of these tracks grab you right away, they all have a habit of insinuating themselves upon you. The Veils have been slowly, but surely, been winning over critics and fans for a while now. With a debut album like this, they will be winning over many more for sure.

The Veils have a single show left in their current UK mini tour.
