The Rakes – Retreat (CD Review)

The London based band The Rakes are a dynamic and eighties tinged punk-pop group. The terse guitars, surly vocals and staccato chorus on ‘Retreat’ make for a vibrant and exhilarating time and the only bad thing I can say about it is that it is over too fast. However, ‘Dark Clouds’ proves to be just as powerful as does the live version of their last single ‘Strasbourg’. The Rakes are one to watch in the future (they are working on an album).
