The Fiery Furnaces – Tropical Iceland

The Fiery Furnaces are one of the most innovative bands I have heard in a long, long time. They are following up on the brilliant single ‘Crystal Clear’ with another, also from the equally excellent album ‘Gallowsbird’s Bark’, called ‘Tropical Iceland’. This new single sits squarely in the left field. The song swirls about Eleanor’s hallucinogenic vocals, blending classic rock cool with far out experimentalism and an ear for what really works. The brilliance of this duo’s approach is that nothing they do sounds like it will work to begin with and then suddenly hooks you in with a sure fire hook that will have you humming the song for weeks.

The Fiery Furnaces are next playing the UK as part of All Tomorrows Parties on April 2nd.
