‘Single Again’ is a firm live favourite in the Fiery Furnaces set. It has been taken from the superb debut album Gallowsbird’s Bark). This tale of abusive partners is rendered in simplistic but effective rhyme punctuated by bursts of guitar. The off-kilter style that makes the Furnaces so alluring is used to full effect on both this track and the alternate A-side ‘Evergreen’.

The more low-key ‘Evergreen’ has a catchy lilt and an almost traditional sound if it were not for the reversed samples that make up part of the tune.
Hot on the heels of their tour with Franz Ferdinand, The Fiery Furnaces have UK dates lined up including performances on the Radio 1 Stage at Leeds Carling Festival on August 27th and Reading on August 29th.
