Sugarcult – Memory

The first single taken from Sugarcult’s recent second album Palm Trees & Power Lines is powerful rock drenched in Californian sunshine. It may fall into a few of the formulaic traps of pop punk along the way but overall Memory is an uplifting song that will make you want you to get up and do something, whether it be simply jump up and down or go and press the repeat button on the CD player.

The b-sides are a new song, Blackout, which slows things down a bit and sounds slightly similar to Sense Field, and an acoustic version of Memory, which is good, though the lead guitar is mixed a bit too loud and can be a bit overbearing.
