Sophia – People Are Like Seasons

For the uninitiated, this is the third album from the ex-God Machine vocalist and guitarist Robin Proper-Sheppard. Robin, as Sophia, has had the assistance of a wide group of musicians he knows from his years in the music (The ‘Sophia Collective’) to create this new album. The songs on ‘People Are Like Seasons’ are from the quiet and reflective end of the guitar pop spectrum. This is a mature album; the songs are, in the main, gentle and luxuriantly adorned with strings and synth. All of this is around a core of strong songwriting and emotive delivery that relies on subtlety to get its purpose across. This, while perhaps not the happiest album of all time, is certainly one you should own and cherish
