Radio 4 – Transmission / Nation (10” Review)

This is the latest single from the New York boys, taken from their latest album ‘Stealing Of A Nation’ and only available on 10″ single. ‘Transmission’ included here in its original album form and as reworked by Glaswegian Alex Smoke (Soma Records). Alex has stripped the song right back and built it up again as a blur of glitchy snaps, basslines, warped samples and vocal edits that retain the essence of the original in what is really a completely new creation of inspired techno.

‘Nation’ has been taken in a completely different direction by Mad Professor and Darkfantom & Stilzy. Most amazing is that the Black Ark remixes feature the legend that is Lee Scratch Perry. The recasting in heavy dub really works as both the ‘Experryments’ and ‘Dub’ are sweetly heavy and deliciously rich.
