Morrissey – Irish Blood, English Heart

Morrissey returns at last! The best news is that he returns on form with ‘Irish Blood, English Heart’. The song has the Mozmeister crooning richly around the subject of reclaiming the flag of England from the extreme right, and having it as a national symbol to be proud of again. His message is as clear as this single is great – It is rich with tense guitars that break forth into a magnificent chorus and a blinding crescendo. If the rest of the tracks on his new album ‘You Are The Quarry’ (released 17 May) are half as good as this then it will still deserve to be called a classic.

Morrissey is appearing live at festivals and gigs in the UK and Europe.
