M. Craft – Silver & Fire / You Are The Music (7” Review)

M. Craft (The M is for Martin) is an Australian whose music can evoke the popular highs of folk and the ease of gentle guitar pop and not seem as naff as that unfortunately sounds. This limited edition 7″ has ‘Silver & Fire’ – in which there is something like the delicate tone of Nick Drake and (probably due to the pan pipes) an air of Simon & Garfunkel about it. The production is rich and the effect is intoxicating.

The other track is the more modern pop sound of ‘You Are The Music’ which is like listening to an acoustic guitar set by Chic. There is an energy that catches you unawares and is very pleasant when you spot it.
