Hot Chip – Boy From School (CD Review)

Hot Chip’s curious blending of simply bouncy and electronic dance alongside a rather melancholy vocal kind of works. The tune is rather annoying and appears to rely on the cheaper end of keyboard technology which leads to a bleepy quality you wouldn’t get away with on a mobile phone these days. The lyrics are sad but are sung with such apparent disinterest that I found I couldn’t care less about them either. ‘Boy From School’ is the follow up to the top 30 single ‘Over and Over’. As I didn’t care for that either I am forced to deduce that I am missing something here – blowed if I can work out what it is though.
