Franz Ferdinand – Walk Away (CD Review)

‘Walk Away’ is the latest single to be taken from ‘You Could Have It So Much Better’. In contrast to many of their singles, which have tended towards mass appeal happy guitar pop, this is a more thoughtful and intricately constructed affair. The drama unfolds through the crooning of Alex and the music punches in the lines and gives a mirror of the feelings as they are exposed.

Unfortunately, Franz’ curious decision to cover Air’s ‘Sexy Boy’ has left me rather cold. It just doesn’t really work and sounds thoroughly inelegant in contrast to ‘Walk Away’. Unfortunate, but it in no way diminishes the A-side.
