Coin-Op – Friendly Fire

Brighton residents and prolific giggers – having shared the bill with the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Polyphonic Spree and The ParkinsonsCoin-Op‘s debut album is here. It consists of the bands singles to date with a couple of bonus tracks for good measure. Everyone will find something to love here.

Using only drums, guitars, keyboards, spirited good tunes and a derring-do ethos Coin-Op have fashioned a gem. From the electric, and aptly named instrumental, ‘Intro’ to the fine closer ‘Playpen‘ every track is an eclectic mix of genre, influence and just inspired musical mentalism. For instance, ‘Democracies‘ sounds like Iggy Pop fronting the Dandy Warhols covering the Inspiral Carpets; ‘Flex‘ makes me think “Ladytron getting funky”; ‘The Curve‘ is classic indie punk rock seamlessly blended into the mix….

The only friendly fire that I’ll ever want to receive.
