British Sea Power – Please Stand Up (CD Review)

What is it with British Sea Power? Their last (‘It Ended On An Oily Stage’) sounded like Echo and The Bunnymen and now they have released a song with the distinct whiff of Simple Minds about it. Someone really should take their copy of ‘Now Decades’ away from them. The washy guitars and faux emotive vocals make for a rather unexciting and very eighties time of it.

Get Please Stand Up from

‘Please Stand Up’ has been taken from the hit album ‘Open Season’ and, I read here, is loosely based on Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major. Being unfamiliar with Pachelbel’s work in any chord, I can’t comment on the likeness, but I dare say it is a better song.
