Beth Orton – Conceived (CD Review)

‘Conceived’ is being released as part of the build up to the release of Beth Orton’s fourth album (‘Comfort Of Strangers’, to be released on 13 February). Beth has retained her style and wavering voice in this new track. The strong piano and lightness of the strings and backing vocals contrast with the tone of the lyrics, sometimes confusingly.

It is touches like that that make Beth Orton worth a listen. She has the potential to create great tunes and lyrics worth hearing. ‘Conceived’ is a quietly confident introduction to what should be a great album.
