Annie – Happy Without You (12” Review)

To be released as a download and a collectable Blue vinyl 12″ this single from Norwegian singer-songwriter Annie’s sun-bleached album ‘Anniemal’ has, with assistance from Erol Alkan (Trash, Bugged Out, various mash ups), been reworked into hard and dirty electro. Riton is responsible for a vocal mix that marries hard beats, hollow electronica and Annie herself into a lather of pure dance floor joy and further cementing his place as one of the UK’s most promising electronic stars.

Also available is the harder sounding remix from the Paris based underground producer Sebastien. Squelching blasts of buzzed up noise and warping sounds blur against the refined downtempo acid bleeps to create a pumping track that is infectious and relentless.

This release is part of a series that will feature, amongst others, Joakim and The Rapture. Annie is currently touring the world with her own ANNIEMIX DJ set across the world, which hits the UK later this month as guests to St.Etienne, plus dates at Sonar, Isle of MTV, Manumission and across the US. In the near future Annie plans to return to the UK for a series of shows and special parties keep an eye out for further details.
