B-52’s cancel European summer tour

Now, this has ruined my Monday. The wonderful B52s have pulled out of their upcoming European tour dates, which includes their Shepherds Bush Empire gig and their set at the Wireless Festival on 22 June. Damn.

The band have issued the following statement: “The B-52’s have had to make the very tough decision to withdraw from their European summer touring plans. At present they are deeply involved in the writing of their next album, and they have become so excited with its progress that they now feel quite strongly about not wanting to disrupt their momentum. The band is sorry to disappoint all their fans and the promoters who have been eagerly anticipating their return to Europe. They are very much looking forward to presenting and touring behind their new album in early 2007.”
