Mark Ronson feat. Alex Greenwald – Just (CD Review)

‘Just’ has been taken from the imminent collection of Radiohead covers called “Exit Music: Songs With Radio Heads” (out April 3rd). New York DJ Mark Ronson has taken one of the most dramatic and cathartic of Radiohead’s songs and has, quite literally, jazzed it up. The light horn effects and funky drumming create a contrast to the rather exposed and miserable tone of the lyrics. With Alex Greenwald (of Phantom Planet fame) giving a rather faithful rendition of the vocals, only without the grand swooping range of Thom.

I was expecting to hate this but I have been pleasantly surprised by the energy and novelty of the track. If the rest of the album is this good then it should be well worth a listen.
