The concept behind this album is the life of Olga Sanatos, Grandmother to Matt and Eleanor Friedberger, and features stories from the 1920’s onwards. There are tales of love, absurdity, and sorrow contained in ‘Rehearsing My Choir’, all wrapped in the mixture of Seventies rock, experimental electronica and rich production.

If you are still reading then there is a good chance you’ll like this. ‘Rehearsing My Choir’ is not your usual album by any stretch of the imagination and benefits from being treated as a single piece of work, following Olga’s life. The nearest album I can think of that has a similar feel to it would be ‘The Seduction of Claude Debussy’ by The Art of Noise; but even that is lacking in drama by comparison. If you have heard the brilliant albums ‘Gallowsbird’s Bark’ and ‘Blueberry Boat’ than you will have some idea what to expect as The Fiery Furnaces continue to build their own wonderful style of music.
