KERRANG! Awards 2005 nominations announced

Two monsters of rock are slugging it out for the big prizes at the 12th Kerrang! Awards 2005… with GREEN DAY and SYSTEM OF A DOWN both weighing in with 5 nominations each …including tips for the coveted ‘Best Band on the Planet’ award. US acts dominate with MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE and FOO FIGHTERS both claiming multiple nominations for 2005’s most raucous, eagerly awaited Awards ceremony of the year. British chart regulars FEEDER and STEREOPHONICS keep the UK end up, as do newcomers FIGHTSTAR and TOWERS OF LONDON.

The nominations were announced today Tuesday 9th August by Awards presenter Stuart Cable at the legendary KERRANG! DAY OF ROCK held at the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street, London. Five of the biggest up and coming names in Rock music – BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, INME, TOWERS OF LONDON, NINE BLACK ALPS and THE MASCARA STORY performed throughout the day in the store and signed cd’s, posters and body parts (!) for hours, kicking off celebrations for this year’s Kerrang! Awards.

Seven of the Awards are voted for by the readers of Kerrang! Magazine and users of Kerrang.com (voting closes on the 22nd August); the best video award is voted for by the viewers of Kerrang! TV and a few special awards are argued over furiously by the Kerrang! team.

The 12th Annual Kerrang! Awards take place on the 25th August at a secret central London location. This year we are very proud to announce that the show will be presented by none other that the international superstar frontwoman of high-voltage rockers Juliette and the Licks – the incredible Juliette Lewis. She will be accompanied by the hilarious and much loved star of CD:UK/Cable TV, Stuart Cable .. who made a fantastic job last year of presenting the Kerrang! Awards.

The biggest names in rock will be attendance at what always proves to be the most debauched, excessive night of the year. 2004 saw Lady Isabella Hervey, Melissa Auf Der Maur and James Nesbett hand out the golden K’s to Green Day, The Darkness and Velvet Revolver amongst others and Metallica were voted the Best Band on The Planet. This year’s guest list is already shaping up to be just as legendary …
