Interpol release will release ‘C’Mere’, the third single from their gold-selling album Antics, on 11th April, following two night headlining London’s Brixton Academy on April 8th and 9th.
C’Mere is Interpol’s moment of pure pop. The beautifully simple, succinct melody of the song, along with Banks’ most obviously heartfelt and uncodefied lyrics make this a modern day love song for a hipper generation. Resonating with the line ‘…it should be me’, C’Mere is a tale of unreciprocated love and a rare moment of clarity in Banks’ often oblique lyrics.
As B-sides each band member has remixed a song from the current album, Antics. Not safe with just impressing the world with their talent as Interpol the band now show how multifaceted they really are by entering the world of remixing. Carlos D creates a stomping, New Order-esque beat-heavy mix of Public Pervert; Paul Banks creates an ethereal, moving stripped down version of Narc, using only an acoustic guitar and minimal, haunting programming; Daniel Kessler creates a glitchy, stunted version of the epic ‘Not Even Jail’; and last but by no means least Sam Fogarino (with the help of Bob Mould – yes, him of Sugar), creates a dance floor smash with ‘Length of Love’. Spread across two 7” and a CD this surely creates the perfect, most personal package a band could offer?
