The House Of Love – Love You Too Much (7” Review)

The House of Love are returning after a rather extended sabbatical with a Valentines flavoured 7″. This is far from the classic ‘Christine’ or the brilliant ‘Destroy The Heart’ and is even removed from their chart hits like ‘Shine On’ and ‘The Beatles and The Stones’. ‘Love You Too Much’ has seen them (thankfully) moving away from the sunny pop tunes of their last material and somewhat back to basics. This new song has a more mature approach and an American rock feel. If you were expecting a lo-fi anthem or a blissed out guitar pop ditty then you are likely to be, pleasantly, surprised.

This seven inch is backed with the acoustic track ‘Skies Above’ that is a very traditional folk rock number. This is earnestness set to guitar that reminds me of The Men They Couldn’t Hang. ‘Love You Too Much’ is taken from the new House of Love album ‘Days Run Away‘ (due February 28, 2005).
