Twinkie – Twinkie (CD Review)

Derby residents Twinkie are already well known around the midlands, where their gigs are much talked about. Now their debut album finally sees the light of day on US label Avebury Records.

The 14 tracks on this album are discordant, full of hooks and make good use of the male/female vocal dynamic (I mean there’s two singers). Managing to mix the cool of The Pixies with the spikiness of Fugazi is no mean feat but Twinkie pull it off with style, panache and a sly wink.
