The Silent League – Breathe

Justin Russo is singer and pianist in The Silent League, and he also played orchestral type keyboards on Mercury Rev’s Deserter’s Songs. This music is SO hauntingly familiar that it’s untrue, has it been playing in my dreams? It’s sophisticated pop music in the style of something like The Thrills. It’s a lazy comparison, but I’m a lazy writer, so there you go, if you like that, you’ll love for this.

The Silent League are from that New York, but you’ve got a few chances to catchem in London this week. They play at the Scala tomorrow (17th), Barfly on Thursday and Friday (with the truly blinking ace Brendon Benson on the latter date), and a matinee show at Notting Hill Arts Club on Saturday.
