Three Days Grace – Three Days Grace

After success in their native Canada with their debut album, Three Days Grace hit the UK with their disc, hoping for a similar reaction. The cynic in me says they’ll probably get it, though I really don’t think we need yet another alt-rock band like this.

Everything on the album has been edited to perfection, largely stripping out any life it may once have had. The drums suffer the most, fairly often sounding like a poorly concealed drum machine (which is pretty much what it becomes when you go overboard with Pro Tools). The guitars and vocals suffer a similar fate, hindered further by the teen angst lyrics of a man in his twenties.

Maybe I’m completely detached from what “the kids” want these days but I like my rock music to sound like someone actually played it. This sounds like it was generated by some kind of clever computer program.
