I’ve heard a fair few covers of Subterranean Homesick Blues in my time but the one that appears as a b-side on this single is the best by far – pounding drums, throbbing bass, shouted vocals and the whole thing drenched in distortion, it comes as a stark contrast to the 60’s pop feel of the a-side.
The press release describes this London duo as “Sandinista-era Clash having a shootout with Phil Spector” and I couldn’t have put it better myself.

Johnny Boy’s debut album is due out later this year. Make a note. Also, look out for the Don Letts directed video for this single.
