Maritime – Glass Floor

The Promise Ring and The Dismemberment Plan were both great bands, though very few people noticed them. When they both split up even fewer noticed. So, now is your chance to take notice of something wonderful.

Promise Ring singer and guitarist Davey von Bohlen and his old drumming buddy Dan Didier used to record as a side-project under the name Vermont and began to look at it more seriously after their main group disbanded. Dismemberment Plan bassist Eric Axelson came on board the trio became Maritime. Even before The Dismemberment Plan split, they had recorded 15 songs with producer J. Robbins, aided by some very talented string, piano and piano players.

Now, this is where you really need to perk up and listen: maritime’s debut album, Glass Floor, is excellent. It’s very laidback, beautifully written and performed perfectly. You may have missed out on the bands it’s members previously resided in but here is a chance to redeem yourself. Take it.
