Seven months after the Yeah Yeah Yeahs burst out on to scene from New York with their eponymous debut EP (which would have gone Top 30 if it had been eligible) and they are ready to carry on the mission. November sees the release of ‘Machine’.
‘Machine’ itself begins with Karen O’s purring intro before erupting forth with Nick’s throbbing guitars and Karen screams for all she is worth. This is everything you could want from a YYY track. Originality and exuberance in spades, with a raw, unpolished edge. The energy and verve is ramped up a notch further for ‘Graveyard’. Ninety seconds of powerful, punky aural assault.

The third offering on this single is a remix of ‘Pin’, taken from the recording sessions for the forthcoming album (due next spring). It’s more atmospheric and less aggressive than the other tracks but not the worse for it. It’s almost a dance remix, reminiscent of ‘Peek A Boo’ by The Banshees or some My Bloody Valentine. Label : Wichita Recordings
