Tapete Records owner and displaced American (he lives and works in Germany) Dirk Darmstaedter this month releases a new album in the guise of Cassity & Me. Essentially a solo work, showcasing his laid back but energetic, often Dylan-esque songwriting talents, he is backed up by a group of talented musicians, including the wonderful Tess Wiley on vocals.
Although he has had marks deducted for doing that annoying Alex Parks thing with his voice on Smoke, this is overall a brilliant album; the kind that infect and eventually becomes at much a part of you as your arms. (AM)
