Carla Bozulich (DiCristina Stair Builders) News

Having been confirmed to play this year’s All Tomorrows Parties on April
3rd, at the request of Sonic Youth, Carla Bozulich is set to release a
Europe only exclusive album, ‘I’m Gonna Stop Killing’ on April 26th via the
DiCristina label. Formerly of Geraldine Fibbers fame, Carla extends the
thread of her ‘Red Headed Stranger’ (voted as the best album of 2003 in the
Sunday Times) as a thank-you to old fans and a welcome to new ones. This
EP-priced full-length album contains new explorations of music from Red
Headed Stranger (including a duet with Willie Nelson), and seven unreleased
live cuts, including original recordings from The Geraldine Fibbers (who
were more recently featured on Rough Trade Shops Country Compilation album)
and Scarnella, as well as Neil Young and Marianne Faithful covers and some
world class improvisations. The musicians who have gathered with Carla on
‘I’m Gonna Stop Killing’ are fascinating and well established in their own
rights – together they create remarkable, music. Nels Cline, Devin Hoff,
Carla Kihlstedt, Marka Hughes, Jenny Scheinman, Scott Amendola, Todd
Sickafoose, Shahzad Ismaily, Ches Smith, and Dina Maccabee challenge
Bozulich to go even further at every turn. Sparse, guitar-based renditions
are stretched into eerie electronic soundscapes and haunting explorations of
themes, bound by Bozulich’s powerful voice.
