AUTOMATO, the fast rising six piece hip-hop collective from the Big Apple, have announced details of their first full UK single release, taken from their highly acclaimed eponymous debut album which hits stores in a few short weeks. Entitled “The Single”, the DFA produced track is released on May 10th 2004 on Labels UK, and looks set to open the band up to a wider audience, with its dynamic fusion of classic hip hop style, effusive soul and contemporary dancefloor savvy. AUTOMATO have successfully captured the spirit of life in Metropolis, where poignant personal and expressive social commentary collide without ever being po-faced, enriched with an overriding sense of honesty and a youthful and colourful sense of humour.
It all follows nicely from where their first 12″ left off. Walk Into The Light has received massive club and specialist radio support across the board over the past few months, as well as coinciding with their arrival in the UK in a few weeks for their first ever UK tour, including dates alongside 2 Many DJs and LCD Soundsystem, and at the Return To New York extravaganza at SE One on Easter Weekend.
Released on CD & 12″, THE SINGLE is exactly what it says on the tin, with the added bonus of a series of reworkings courtesy of Elephant & Rondo Bros, as well as a new track, Life Is A Cabaret, But Not In This Town, on the CD, and an instrumental of the lead track on the 12″ respectively.
