Calexico On Screen With Tom Cruise & Mohammad Ali! Near You!

CALEXICO have just finished filming a scene in Los Angeles for Dreamwork’s 2004 upcoming release COLLATERAL. The scene features members of CALEXICO (Joey Burns, John Convertino, and Jacob Valenzuela) performing Güero Canelo in a local club. The film is directed by Michael Mann and stars Tom Cruise, Jamie Foxx, Jada Pinkett Smith, Mark Ruffalo, Peter Berg, Bruce McGill.

You might also have heard a familiar sound behind the latest Adidas ad featuring Muhammad Ali. CALEXICO’s Pepita (from Feast of Wire) is the soundtrack to the ad The Long Run.

The band has lined up a short tour of the UK and Ireland to coincide with the release. The dates line up like this:

  • 14 April – Cork Opera House
  • 15 April – Dublin Vicar St
  • 16 April – Manchester Bridgwater Hall
  • 17 April – London Royal Festival Hall
  • 18 April – Glasgow Academy
  • 19 April – Birmingham Academy

In addition, the CD single will include an enhanced portion featuring a live performance of Black Heart filmed at The Barbican in London during the Further Beyond Nashville Festival in November 2002. The performance is also included as part of a forthcoming Calexico DVD, CALEXICO LIVE AT THE BARBICAN: WORLD DRIFTS IN, which is due for release in late May.
