CHICKS ON SPEED return to the limelight with the long awaited release of one of the stand out tracks from their awesome 99 Cents album. WORDY RAPPINGHOOD, originally written and recorded by Tom Tom Club, features a number of spectacular guest appearances, not least from Tom Tom Club’s own Tina Weymouth. Others involved include Miss Kittin, Nicola from adult., Le Tigre and the band’s own publicist Jill Mingo!
WORDY RAPPINGHOOD is due for release on March 1st on CD and 12″ and features remixes from Playgroup (aka Trevor Jackson) and Dave Clarke. The video for the single will also be included on the CD. The tracklisting of the two formats is as follows:
CD: Radio Edit / The Playgroup Remix / Dave Clarke’s Non Techno Mix / The Playgroup Remix (Instrumental)
12″: Album Version / Acapella Version / The Playgroup Remix / Dave Clarke’s Non Techno Mix
The track has already become a firm favourite with radio and clubs since the album’s release, and the remixes only enhance the single with two stunning reinterpretations of the track.
CHICKS ON SPEED have also collaborated with Dave Clarke for the track What Was Her Name on his recent album, which is released as a single in late January. Late last year Alex and Melissa from CHICKS appeared at Dave Clarke’s show at London’s Scala club, which followed a guest appearance from the full CHICKS ON SPEED line up at Dave’s Creamfields performance in the summer of 2003.
To coincide with the single, CHICKS ON SPEED have confirmed a short UK tour for late February, which follows their hugely successful tour in October / November 2003.
